Welcome
InTACT is a shared information and communication technology (ICT) service
organisation providing a complete range of ICT and allied services to the
ACT Government which includes all tiers of Education, Health, Government
Services and the Legislative Assembly. Services include: infrastructure,
applications support and development, ICT policy, ICT project services,
publishing and records management. Our vision is to become a trusted partner
to ACT Government agencies in the efficient and effective support of ICT
services and delivery of ICT enabled business change. InTACT is a business unit of Shared Services within the ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) with approximately 600 staff; many physically located within ACT Government Departments and agencies. InTACT operates on a full cost recovery basis with an annual operating budget of around $120m.
InTACT operates on a full cost recovery basis with a focus on cost reduction and maintaining appropriate levels of investment, rather than on making a profit. By sourcing ICT services through a single internal ICT service provider, the ACT Government is able to reduce internal transaction costs as well as leveraging opportunities of scale in the way individual agencies acquire, develop, maintain and support business applications.
InTACT manages a modern ICT environment that includes four major computer centres, over 1,100 Windows, UNIX and Linux servers, more than 300 terabytes of data storage, over 1,500 network devices, Government-wide IP telephony, an integrated fibre-optic voice and data network, and high-speed Internet connectivity. This infrastructure supports more than 1,500 key business applications used by 18,000 public servants, 20,000 tertiary students and 35,000 school students across the ACT.
