Welcome
InTACT is a
shared ICT service organisation providing a complete range of ICT and allied
services to the ACT Government including infrastructure, applications
support and development, ICT policy, ICT project services, publishing and
records management. Our vision is to be a first-class ICT Organisation.InTACT is a business unit of the Shared Services Centre within the ACT Department of Treasury with approximately 500 staff, with many physically located within ACT Government Departments and agencies. InTACT operates on a full cost recovery basis with an annual budget of around $100m.
InTACT operates on a full cost recovery basis with a focus on cost reduction and maintaining appropriate levels of investment, rather than on making a profit. By sourcing ICT services through a single internal ICT service provider, the ACT government is able to reduce internal transaction costs as well as leveraging opportunities of scale in the way individual agencies acquire, develop, maintain and support business applications.
InTACT manages a modern ICT environment that includes four major computer centres, over 1,100 Windows, Sun and Linux servers, more than 60TB of SAN/NAS/CAS storage, over 1,500 network switches and routers, service-wide IP telephony, an integrated fibre-optic voice and data network, and high-speed Internet connectivity. This infrastructure supports over 1,500 key business applications used by 18,000 public servants, 20,000 tertiary students and 35,000 school students across the ACT.
